What’s the weather like in October?

In October, the climate is warm and mild. During the day, you can expect sunshine and temperatures as warm as 25 degrees and drops to 15 degrees during the evening. If you enjoy sunny weather and slightly cooler temperatures, then visiting the Algarve out of season could be perfect for you. Throughout the year, rainfall is at a minimum and you can expect around 300 days of sunshine. During October, there is around a 25% chance of rainfall, with an average of 8 wet days.

 

What’s on in the Algarve in October?

There is always something happening in the Algarve. Whether you are visiting during peak season or out of season, there is lots to do and see. Most restaurants and bars stay open all year round and you have access to all of the blue flag beaches. 

October is harvest time in the Algarve and the locals are ready to party. There are many cool events to add to your itinerary. 

 

Faira De Santa Iria

One of the biggest festivals in Faro takes place in the third week of October. This is a religious festival that has been going on for over 400 years. Here you can expect carnival rides, bumper cars, local produce stalls and live music. 

This festival honours St Irene and takes place over nine days in a large parking area on the eastern side of the old town.

 

Algarve smooth jazz festival

The Algarve Smooth Jazz Festival is a fantastic experience for any music lover. This takes place at vila Vita Parc in Porches and includes exciting activities such as boat trips and excursions. You can also experience smooth jazz over dinner, which consists of delicious local produce.

This is truly a hidden jewell and takes place in a spectacular seafront location on top of the red cliffs above Praia da Falesia. This is known to be one of the most beautiful beaches in all of Spain and Portugal, so if you’re really into your music, then this could be a great experience for you to have.
